cimone Says Closure Comes in ‘waves’

By Margaret Adams

This reading of Alchemical Records content provides a multimedia experience for our audience while increasing the accessibility of our content to persons with hearing loss, low vision, dyslexia, physical or motor disabilities, or are on the autism spectrum.

Canadian artist cimone recently released “waves” off of her debut EP after the rain, which dropped on February 4. Last year, she released her debut single, “pink clouding,” reaching over 10K views on Spotify, and released its music video this past month.

The singer-songwriter released her first EP Heal A Heart after graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2019; she spent the last year of college writing and producing music that inspires her artistry today.

“waves” is a more cinematic R&B song, with synths being used to dramatize the chorus, and emphasize the emotional and vulnerable lyrics. The production also emphasizes her cultural upbringing, as cimone was raised in a South Asian home.

This second track off her debut EP celebrates and infuses traditional Eastern-Sufi sounds with modern R&B, laced with Arabic. The song plays as a metaphor for experiencing closure after a loss; the way the chorus suspends and becomes more intense reflects the grieving process.

Fans of Kehlani, Rihanna, and Giveon should check out cimone’s new single, “waves.” The single is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube. Follow our Alchemical Weekly YouTube Playlist for more great music featured on the site.
