D.C.-based indie pop artist Chris Mallett released his latest single, “Live Out My Days with You” ft. PhD Woods and Professor Kells, on February 12. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the tender, heartfelt song captures the magic of a glorious wedding day, where two people commit to becoming one in life and love.

Mallett shares “Live Out My Days with You” is sung from “the perspective of someone watching their bride walk down the aisle.” The lyrics of the pre-chorus suggest that the husband-to-be is smitten with his bride: “Radiant in that dress / An angel floating in my direction / Tears rolling down my face / Thank God for this blessing.”

For many people, a wedding day is one of the most memorable moments of a lifetime. From the promise of a new journey together with the person you love to the inevitably exhausting, nerve-wracking elements of planning the ceremony, there is something otherworldly about the experience.

Driven by atmospheric pads and an understated R&B groove, the instrumentation of “Live Out My Days with You” has a dreamy, floating quality that aligns with the feeling of being suspended in time during such a momentous and sacred occasion. Mallett’s smooth, honey-coated vocals offer a warm embrace that round out the song’s overall intimate vibe.

“Beauty could bring me to my knees / You inspire me to plant my feet,” Mallett sings in the lead up to the chorus. Although the husband-to-be is love-struck while beholding his bride’s beauty as she walks to the altar (as he should be), it’s clear that their love runs more than skin-deep.

In addition to her physical attributes, the groom is grateful for his bride’s inner beauty, expressing the sense of peace, safety, trust, acceptance, and motivation that she inspires. This perspective gives listeners hope that their union will stand the test of time even after the honeymoon phase wanes and the not so glamorous troubles of everyday life seep in.

Chris Mallett, who was raised in the Los Angeles area, notes that he was inspired to write the song after receiving the beat from his producer and friend, PhD Woods, who he first met during their time as doctoral students at Howard University. “Live Out My Days with You” is also co-produced by Professor Kells. The cover art includes a photograph of the hands of PhD Woods and his wife on their wedding day.

“This song is meant to be played at a wedding, to remind you of your love, or to manifest the type of love you want to attract,” Mallett explains. With such broad appeal, “Live Out My Days with You” offers something special for everyone, so be sure to add this lovely companion track to your playlist today. Stay tuned for upcoming releases from this original rising talent.
