Signature Theatre is bringing back the 70s with this disco-inspired cabaret.
Put on your bell bottoms and adjust those tube tops, it’s time to head over to Signature Theatre for their newest cabaret. Disco Fever is a celebration of, well, the music of disco. Under the musical direction of Mark G. Meadows, the show will feature music from Donna Summers, Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor, and more icons from that era.
“As we create each cabaret, my biggest fear is, can we top the last? And each time, but especially with this one, we top it,” says Meadows, the Director of Cabarets. Meadows has collaborated with Kailya Gross and Tobias A. Young for this syncopated sensation. They have all previously worked together on Signature Theatre’s production of The Color Purple that ran last year.
Meadows goes on, “Kaiyla Gross and Tobias A. Young will raise your temperature to disco fever levels. Talk to your medical provider before seeing this show.”
Both Gross and Young are upcoming stars in the DC theatre scene. Before this show, Gross has been a part of productions with Signature Theatre, Folger Shakespeare Company, and The Olney Theatre Center.
Young has worked with Signature Theatre, Ford’s Theatre, The Olney Theatre Center, Adventure Theatre, and Toby’s Dinner Theatre. He was nominated for his role as Piragua Guy in In the Heights at the latter.
Celebrate disco with these talented performers from July 25th through August 13th. Tickets are $45 each, and can be purchased here, or by calling (703) 820-9771.
