Toronto-based alternative rocker, Cam Kahin, brings an indie rock sheen with his latest single “Try Again” which foreshadows his upcoming EP, WHEN IT’S ALL OVER, due for release this Spring.
There’s a short of surfabilly rhythmic style and cadence that sings through the pluckier guitar moments. Against the more straight-ahead chords, the dynamic shifts are enormous as they move between free falling abyss and claustrophobic introspection. With some atmospheric backing vocals that wail in the distance, it’s a song that feels massive and cathartic.
“When I was making this EP, I was going through massive amounts of change” Kahin recalls. “I wanted to make a body of work that reflected that change by stepping out of my comfort zone sonically and writing honestly about the side effects of getting older. When I’ve been at my lowest, I’ve looked to artists who write honestly, and I hope to have that effect on my fans and listeners. My wish is for people to find comfort in these songs.”
Electrically charged and full of life, “Try Again” is constantly resetting itself and plowing into the great unknown. At every heel turn, it keeps you guessing as it sprawls musically in all directions at once.

Charlie Maybee is a dancer, musician, educator, and writer based in Charleston, South Carolina who currently teaches with the Dance Program at the College of Charleston. His primary work as an artist is with his performing collective, Polymath Performance Project, through which he makes interdisciplinary performance art that centers tap dance as the primary medium of expression and research. He also currently plays rhythm guitar for the Charleston-based punk band, Anergy, and releases music as a solo artist under the name Nox Eterna.
