Bramses Xalyxys proves that the concept album is not a lost art in his debut EP, “Mysterious Warrior.” This six-track journey begins with the spoken word “Prayer Of The Lost Warrior” before blazing into “Swords That Deserve To Be Ruled” where listeners explore the protagonist’s motivations for undertaking the quest. The addition of a crystalline piano later in the track sets the expectation by now that listeners could experience a variety of stimuli and will gain insights into the narrative from a number of perspectives. On “In The Black Flames There Is A White Battle,” Xalyxys rivets a moment in the hero’s journey where he experienced great pain and fell from grace.
For the “Mysterious Warrior” EP, screenwriter and musician Bramses Xalyxys wanted to create something akin to an audiobook in music format. Influenced by rock, metal and even doses of pop and EDM, Xalyxys (named after a villain in one of his stories) does just that in way we feel would resonate strongly for fans of Dream Theater and similar artists. Taking place on the planet Vortuxs, “Mysterious Warrior” is about an army of dragon wolves called Jagred and Jaet, the first leader of Vortuxs. Jaet desires to meet the other half of dragon wolves with the hope to unite the two and create “T.A.O.T.B.D.W.” The main objective of the leader of Vortuxs is to defend his planet, firmly maintain the legacy of his ancestors, and learn the identity of the planet’s creator. With his passion for screenwriting and sound, Xalyxys created an action-packed fiction fantasy, the first installment of several musical albums to follow.
We won’t give away the ending. You’ll have to embark on a quest of your own and set aside a few minutes to experience “Mysterious Warrior” the way the artist intended, in the same atmosphere you would enjoy your favorite audiobook.
