Blue Cadet Strolls Down ‘Dennis Avenue’

By Jaci Jedrych

This reading of Alchemical Records content is to provide a multimedia experience for our audience while increasing the accessibility of our content to persons with hearing loss, low vision, dyslexia, physical or motor disabilities, or are on the autism spectrum.

“Dennis Avenue,” featuring Cherry Boy is Blue Cadet’s newest single. Alchemical Records has covered them before, for their songs inspired by the Black Lives Matter protests in summer 2020.

The Maryland-based band has released music since 2019, while doing all they can to enrich and support the local art scene. They curate playlists to support local DMV artists, host the annual self-run music festival Blue Fest, and collaborated with over a dozen artists in the area to produce an animated music video.

Blue Cadet’s music melds dream pop rock with hip-hop, bringing a feeling of stability to the sound. “Dennis Avenue” is a bubbly, dreamy, fluid, but held up by a structural, dense beat. The juxtaposition offers an interesting perspective and fresh feel.

Fans of Dayglow or No Vacation looking to expand their palette should check out Blue Cadet, for their dream pop sound and high energy feel.
