Ari & The SadLads Debut with ‘Cherry Blossom’

Ari & The Sad Lads are releasing their debut single together, ‘Cherry Blossom’.

Ari Voxx, the frontwoman of the group, was born and raised in the District. She’s always loved music, as well as retro and vintage.

“She grew up singing along to classic Motown artists like The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, as well as the smooth jams on her mom’s go-to radio station, Majic 102.3.”

From her roots in soul, gospel, spiritual, and both French and Latin classical music, she branched out into rock and new wave. This, while allowing her to find her unique sound, put her in the position of being put into a box by her peers.

Ari’s music is easily characterized in one word: sad.

“Why the sad vibes? Depression is something Ariana has struggled with basically her entire life, and music is her way of coping. This is why her art is so very important to her. Expression though music is her only way to communicate, escape, relate, and exist.”

The SadLads, a four-piece, produces music that is dreamy, indie, melancholic, and sad. Their track ‘Cherry Blossom’ is no different– retro gloom.

They describe it as “an indie pop song featuring strong female vocals, dreamy/thoughtful chord progressions, driving bass, surf elements, and a touch of retro synth.”

Fans of the Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Imogen Heap, and Zero 7 should check out this track.

‘Cherry Blossom’ is available on major streaming platforms. Find this and more exciting music on the Alchemical Records Multigenere Mixture playlist on Spotify.
