Anthony Menzia Liberates with ‘Asmodeus’

By Jaci Jedrych

Self-proclaimed “misfit” Anthony Menzia’s latest track, ‘Asmodeus’, draws inspiration from the occult.

An experimental psychedelic electronic artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Menzia has a distinct and unique sound that even he struggles to catagorize.

“[T]he songs are still too structured for what the experimental crowd is after. I have a very small group of artists that I’m heavily inspired by, but I’d really not spell that out because I’m so eager to see what listeners would come up with on their own. My upcoming release, Synth Noise, is a self-identification of a genre for me to fit into. Kicked out of all of the others, I’ll make my own.”

His latest release ‘Asmodeus’ blends psychology and theology together. Inspired by his fascination with cults and religion, the dark tones blend with the experimental nature of the track.

“Asmodeus is firmly placed in the Garden of Eden, though the perspective from the snake references apocryphal passages and then goes on to indulge puritanical interpretations of sexuality, marrying sex with evil through that lens. Like the final line implies, it’s the kind of stuff that the chaste secretly fantasize about in their deepest fantasies and desires,” he says.

Fans from idm, ebm, outrun, industrial, cyberpunk, synthwave, electro & glitch to grunge, postpunk, noise rock, psych rock, shoegaze, and dream pop, should check out this track.  This track and other excellent music is available on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify.
