Annie Elise Colors a New World in “We Can Pretend”

By Jaci Jedrych

“Conductor for color” Annie Elise is popping into the electronic music scene with her new song “We Can Pretend.” The 20-year-old draws her musical inspiration from her synesthesia, a neurological condition that causes her to see colors when she hears sounds.

In 2017, she gave a TEDxLancaster talk called “Seeing Sound: How Synesthesia Can Change Our Thinking.” Since then, she has continued to be an active songwriter, producer for Dawn Patrol Music, sound engineer, and instrumentalist, allowing her to gain the experience in the music industry to release one album and a couple of singles over the years, but she is shifting gears to focus on her own projects.

Annie Elise’s newest song, “We Can Pretend,” is a sparkling electronic piece. The lyrics discuss how ideal life inside a dream is and a longing to feel that in the real world. The production gives a crisp but blended feel to the song and creates a soundscape into which the listener enters.

Fans of bands like Transviolet or XYLØ who are looking to expand their listenership should check out Annie Elise’s new music. The fresh production and scintillating vocals create a shimmering soundscape that enchants the listener and transports them to a new world.
