Amanda Cunningham Benefit EP Release Concert at Crooked Run Fermentation

Some of you may remember our earlier article about Amanda Cunningham’s (then) newest release. Well now she’s back and better than ever with her debut EP “From the Chair”! Come celebrate its release with her at Crooked Run Fermentation this weekend!
This concert has two incredibly important missions: to honor of all of Amanda’s hard work and the joy surrounding her music, and to raise money for the Warrior Music Foundation. What is that you might ask? Their goal is to serve active duty military, veterans, and their families by providing a venue for learning, healing, and camaraderie through free music therapy and lessons.
Amanda’s music combines “deep, soulful vocals with raw, gritty honesty that allows her listeners to feel effortlessly understood and connected to the voice behind the music”. She wields an uncanny story-weaving ability, and draws her audience in through openness and vulnerability. This debut EP has taken years of therapy and self improvement, and deals with her journey through life – from her past to being a young mother and all of the struggles beyond. Check out her Spotify here, and make sure to listen to “From the Chair” on your favorite streaming platforms!

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
