Alchemical Records Playlist Updates: Week of June 25, 2022

New Music Friday - New Music This Week on Alchemical Records

By Daniel Warren Hill

I’m a little late today. I slept in. What are you telling me you didn’t? I hope that you get to enjoy these tracks the way I was able to write about them: outside in the shade with your favorite beverage with a cool gentle breeze washing over you while the music plays. Find this and more great music on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify or YouTube, and have a great weekend!

“WAR” by Michael Joseph Green is a song that continues a long history of musicians contributing to the conversation about the impact that war has on our society. It’s reminiscent of Megadeath with even a hint of Dave Mustaine influenced vocals; appropriate given how much this iconic band has written on the subject. This is the third single off the full length “SUBTERRANEANS” album, dropping in August.

We challenge you to try not tapping your feet at the start of this pop-punk track, “Cough Syrup” by Detroit, Michigan area band Seaholm. The title track of their latest EP of the same name, “Cough Syrup” will appear on the band’s forthcoming full-length album “It’s Raining Outside” on July 1, 2022.

Sister Void’s latest single, “platinum dress” is an atmospheric dreampop/alt-rock track that explores “living in the image of glamour and yet tormented by a dysfunctional relationship and personal problems.” The song’s protagonist seeks out ‘tomorrow’s parties” as the opportunity to escape  from the harsh realities of, well, reality. Check out the track’s accompanying visual on YouTube.

Richmond, VA hip-hop artist Johnny Ciggs serves up his latest single “Charcuterie.” Cigg’s first single since the release of 2022 full-length album “The Great White Hype,” “Charcuterie” metaphorically shows ‘how the sausage is made’ by blending a number of topics into a seamless narrative.

RB Keys’ latest single, “Wine It Slow” is a poppy, synth-filled single with a foundation in a rhythmic acoustic guitar; these various elements combine to create an uptempo summer track that suggest maybe there’s no need to rush into love.

Uppsala, Sweden indie-rock darlings, In Deed have released a brand new single “Don’t Kill the Babe” in time for the re-release of iconic hit album, “Everest.” A pop gem of bouncing beats, swirling guitars and rollicking organ, “Don’t Kill the Babe” echoes influences from 60’s and 90’s rock and heralds the coming of more new music by In Deed.

ET conveys how positive influences from artists like Sean Kingston, Rae Shremmurd, The Weeknd, and Juice WRLD contribute to his versatile vibes spanning emo rap, chill hop hip-hop, cloud rap, and R&B hip-hop. This collaboration with Yung Xiim exists beautifully between these worlds as the artists intend to keep listeners from being discouraged in the pursuit of their dreams and just “MOVE.”

Canadian alt-pop rock band Goodnight Sunrise really shines in their latest single, “Wait for It.” This anthemic track provides positive vibes along the lines of watching out for your own happiness and to wait for the good things that are sure to come.  “Wait for It’ is the band’s third single of 2022 following the release of “One Pill” and “Belong” and leaves us wanting even more.

Electronic, check; Trippy, check.  “Over Capacity” is one of the songs found on F1NG3RS brand new full length album, “Lost Levels.” With over 22 funky video game textured tracks, If this song tickles your fancy you are definitely going to want to hear the rest!

“Whoah Vicky” is the latest single by OG Illa, creative director for theMSQshop based in Richmond, VA.  In collaboration with head videographer and theMSQshop co-owner, The Uth, Og Illa throws down the gauntlet with this self empowering track suggesting “no one can do it like me.”

Boston, Massachusetts-based alt/pop artist Alex Costova releases “I Can’t Live (Without You),” a love song with EDM elements summarizing just how significant our significant others are. In a world where Owl City meets Justin Beiber this spirited and dynamic genre-blending track would be the result.

Baltimore, Maryland independent artist Fouronezero is amassing a following one fan at a time on YouTube by creating unique content and engagement opportunities not available on any other platform. We really admire the music and lyrics of this artist from the DMV music scene and their commitment to carving out their own unique vision and building community.

While Twø Wrøngs and Samuel Terrazzino have been collaborating together over the last year, “In My Head” marks the first release from their joint effort. Twø Wrøngs recently released their very first EP “For You,” and producer and engineer Samuel Terrazzino recently collaborated with ILOVEMAKONNEN and YellowTrashCan on the single, “How Did It Happen?” There are some great collaborations and community being built in Portland and between Portland and L.A. and it’s great to watch it unfold.
