Adventures of Love in “One Summer’s Day” by Jay Moussa-Mann

By Charlie Maybee

“One Summer’s Day” gives us a peak into an excursion of love that Jay Moussa-Mann found herself on in Turkey. Mustering up feel-good vibes that channel into a summer love story, the dream pop artist continues down a path of storytelling that feels kin to artists like Taylor Swift, Maisie Peters, or even ABBA.

“I think I was going for Swift’s answer to ‘All Too Well’,” Jay laughs about pulling inspiration from her previous single. “No, in all seriousness, there’s something mysterious and addictive about unrequited love stories or timing never working out. I wanted to try and describe this one summer that really stuck with me. I wanted to capture that feeling of Mediterranean evenings, motorbike rides and adventure.”

There’s a level of nostalgia that comes through as Moussa-Mann looks back on her adventures fondly. Musically, it hits all the right notes regarding the warmth and comfort of summer memories. Just laid back enough that relaxation and reflection are easily accessible while keeping us captivated with a steady groove that refuses to quit. A song that would fit perfectly on a playlist for a long summer road trip along the coast. Preferably with someone special – friend, or more-than.

“One Summer’s Day” is available on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Find this and more great music on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify.
