A Troop of Echoes Show Their Grit with Series of Historic Live Recordings

Providence, Rhode Island Natives, A Troop of Echoes have returned after an 8-year break with a new series of mixtapes titled INFINITE HITS which capture some of their most memorable and raw live performances.

Known for merging post-punk energy with a post-rock atmosphere, there is a uniquely chaotic nature to A Troop of Echoes’ catalogue of music that feels like a mix of noise rock and Avant-Garde jazz. There are plenty of drums, guitar, and bass that thrash into oblivion, but it is the saxophones that give the band a specific bluesy, or jazzy flavor. In some ways, the marriage of jazz and rock elements seems obvious given their shared lineage, but there is something uniquely unsettling about the band’s urgent sound also makes it equally alluring like a primordial scream.

The first set, which just released on January 20, 2023, brings 4 of their classic song’s together: “Little Bird”, “Why but Also Yes”, “Wait ‘til the Lights are Gone”, and “The Star Machine”. Opaque titles which act more like starting points that gradually unravel in compelling ways. Pulling from a carefully curated selection of shows, demos, and other “sonic debris” as they’ve accurately described, the entire series will cover the band’s cathartic tenure from 2005-2022 and is a force to be reckoned with. Unflinching and uncompromising, it shows the band at their most furious and absolute best.

INFINITE HITS 1 is available now on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
