Dab Records Vol. 1, the latest release from Emancipator & Asher Fulero, is a trendy speak-easy’s dream atmosphere playlist. But until it’s safe to convene in such places again, it’s the perfect not-quite-cool-jazz, easy-listening soundtrack for an afternoon at home. Perfect for your Pandemicland quarantine days and at-home-self-parties, tracks like Ivory Tower, Yabba Dabba, and Subway Smokin’ will keep you self-grooving around your apartment all night. Don’t get me wrong though – this is not your typical elevator-music, cool-jazz. Each track is, on average, just around two minutes, putting this EP in the category of listen-on-a-loop all day long. Dab Records marries Ian Anderson with Charlie Parker over a ceremony of funk beats, and classic hip-hop nuance – see Silk Tuxedo; a personal album fave!
