On January 3, Emmett begins a world tour of the United States, 8 European countries, and South America behind the release of his 5th CD, WANDER, WONDER.
WANDER, WONDER reflects Emmett’s songwriting diversity with styles ranging from folk to bluegrass to rock to an electronic collaboration with a DJ from Liverpool.
Originally from St. Louis, Emmett cut his musical teeth playing in bands during stops in Philadelphia, New York, Istanbul and London. While his influences run the musical spectrum of punk, funk, rock, and country, he found his calling as a folksinger. But he has yet to be pigeonholed into any musical category. As David Browne from Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly states, “Emmett Williams is a singer-songwriter, but that’s where the cliché’s end.
Emmett also refuses to stick to one artistic medium. Besides releasing his fifth record, he is also a documentary filmmaker, exhibited photographer, and multimedia artist.
Whichever way Emmett decides to tells his stories, it is promised that his audience will be both entertained and inspired. As Lisa Bornstein of the Rocky Mountain News said, “In every Emmett Williams song, there’s a quality that reaches out, grabs the listener and lets go only on the last note.
Having gone through one too many troubling times in his life, at age 17 the North Carolina-born, DMV-based dude known as SpencerJoyce picked up the guitar and his healing process began. As he played more and more he began to write songs, and in doing so quickly discovered his natural knack for crafting melodies and converting his innermost feelings, be it happy, sad, angry, or goofy, into heart-tugging lyrics. In March 2012 he began recording demos of these songs on the GarageBand app on his iPhone with no plans on releasing an album. That is until a chance meeting with a close musician friend of his in May 2013 sparked his interest in putting out an actual album.
Now Spencer has passed his 21st birthday, and he’s just put the finishing touches on his debut album, ‘Overnight Rockstar’. Spencerwears his influences of The Beatles, The Who, Oasis, Neil Young, Nirvana and more on his sleeve in his very autobiographical debut. He plans to tour extensively as a one-man band through the DC-metro area, Virginia, North Carolina, and many more places in the coming year, so be on the lookout! What Spencer hopes you’ll get from listening to his album and coming to his show is not just a rockin’ good time, but an intense motivation to follow your passion all the way to your dreams. Because he believes, as he sings in ‘Overnight Rockstar’s opening track ‘Rolling Along’, “You’ve gotta roll along with your heart and soul/they’ll get ya closer to all your goals!’
The guys from Higher Education know how to get a party going, and that’s what they’ve been doing all around the DMV area! Their influences range from Sublime, Nirvana, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, Pantera, Fishbone, 311, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slightly Stoopid, Dispatch, and Rx Bandits. So you can imagine what would happen if you put all these bands into a bottle, shook it (not stirred), and poured it back out. The result would be Higher Education. A band with rock and roll in their hearts, smiles on their faces, and a ganja girl on each arm.
End of Silence
End of Silence is an Alternative Metal, Hard Rock band. Listening closely, you can hear musical influences from other bands like Flyleaf, The Letter Black, 12 Stones, Shinedown, Daughtry and Nickelback.
End of Silence (EOS) is an Alternative Metal/Hard Rock band that is comprised of members from various musical backgrounds while perfectly merging sounds from both familiar and obscure bands. Drummer, Scott Conway, will keep your ear guessing with his creative time shifting beats and bassist, D.C., fuses elements of different genres to create a style he calls “Metal Funk.” Rob Love adds an intense finish with subtle, yet essential melodies with his lead guitar.
Each member has performed in and with various local bands. They have all come together to build a strong presence and following both locally and nationally. EOS is driven by living out a positive, genuine, steadfast example while loudly proclaiming an uplifting message rarely offered in this genre.
Charles the Hammer
Easily compared to bands like Flyleaf or Paramore because of their female singer, Charles the Hammer breaks through the stereotype by showcasing that their music encompasses so much more than a girl with a microphone. The dual guitarists have their own tones and styles that diversify every single song, while the rhythm section keeps things complicated and driving. Their music is equal parts jangle pop and brooding rock, shaken not stirred, creating a refreshing and smooth alternative sound that is sure to stirke a chord with anyone who listens. Charles the Hammer was a brilliant political and military leader in the early 700′s, but now Charles the Hammer is an alternative rock powerhouse ready to take over your speakers with their experience, scene-rapport and musical variety.
