Gather round the children
Gather round.
Gather round
Cast away your burdens
Hear the sound. Hear the sound
Brought to you by the people that hate
Brought to you by the masters of fate
Brought to you ‘cuz it’s never too late
Step into the sun
Maybe that’ll save your soul
Pray to your false gods
Maybe that’ll make you whole
Preaching in your tongues
Comin’ on so spiritual
How you advertise the fool
How you advertise the hole
Gather up your burdens
It’s the order of the day
Tell me all your regrets
Don’t ya throw that shit away
Brought to you by the people afraid
Brought to you by the freedom parade
Brought to you ‘cuz they can’t get laid
Step into the sun
Maybe that’ll save your soul
Pray to your false gods
Maybe that’ll make you whole
Preaching in your tongues Comin’ on so spiritual How you advertise the fool How you advertise the hole

Emma G: SMILE “Official Video”

Emma G: SMILE “Official Video”

Music video by Emma G performing SMILE © 2018

Produced by Flightboy Music and DJ Reality Check Purchase, Emma G’s debut album “TAKING FLIGHT” here: https://emmagmusic.bandcamp.com/album

Written about Emma G’s experiences starting her career as a street performer and musician working in the nation’s capitol: Washington DC, Emma G would watch people every morning as she sang for them during their morning commute and marvel at how something as simple as a smile could change a person’s day – or even week. “I regularly receive letters from people thanking me for simply acknowledging them. Love is a powerful tool. Imagine what we could do if we harnessed more of its magic? ESPECIALLY in big cities like Washington, DC”. “Smile” is an engaging, energetic, and empowering ballad that is uncompromising yet radio-friendly, as listeners are taken on an aural journey of pop, rock and EDM. “We can change the world, we can make it if we try, we can save the world, if only I can make you smile.” Emma challenges everyday communities of the power of people. There’s no question; this song will leave you feeling positive, empowered, and as if anything is possible. After all, President Ronald Reagan said it himself: “if not now, when? If not us, who?”

“SMILE” is available May 1st on iTunes, Amazon, Google Music, Spotify, Tidal and wherever else you discover good music!

LYRICS:
I don’t wanna hold your hand
If I can touch your soul
It’s a solitary dance If I’m doing this alone
But I can see it in your eyes
Won’t you let me make you smile
It’s an open ended call
And it’s up to you and I
We can change the world
We can make it if we try
We can save the world
If only I could make you smile
I don’t wanna play naive
It’s a roller coaster ride
A war against myself
A war inside my mind
But I feel it in my soul
It’s the simple things in life
A promise to be bold
A promise to do right
We can change the world
We can make it if we try
We can save the world I just wanna make you smile.
Oh it’s an uphill battle if we don’t believe
A simple connection is all that we need
I don’t wanna hold your hand
If you won’t open up your soul
It’s a solitary dance
If I’m doing this alone
We can change the world
We can make it if we try
We can save the world I just wanna make you smile.

Thrillkiller First to Announce Appearance At The Angel Rock Bar

Thrillkiller First to Announce Appearance At The Angel Rock Bar

by Logan Deiner

On June 21st, Alchemical Records and Transcendent Events will be presenting a show at the Angel Rock Bar in Baltimore. Several bands are expected to be there, but Thrillkiller has now been the first band to officially confirm attendance. Thrillkiller believes that the Angel Rock Bar “is one of the funnest establishments in Baltimore to say the least” and have even used the bar as a filming location for a music video, making it an integral part of their deep, rich canon. Thrillkiller were also excited to announce an all new lineup, even debuting all new, never before heard music. According to the band,“ we have refined and retooled every single part of our setlist, and it will almost be like you are listening to an entirely different band.”

Thrillkiller is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Rob Bradley, who prior to Thrillkiller started a band named “Ares,” which took several influences from 80s metal and even played with metal giants Symphony X and Metal Church. He abandoned the project shortly afterwards, with his reason being “these days, if i want to listen to 80s metal, I’ll just listen to metal from the 80s.” He then moved on to Thrillkiller, with a revolving door of different lineup changes over the years. Also in the current lineup are Sebastian Ochoa and Derrin Ruschell on guitar, Daniel Tipton on drums, and Brendan McGlathery on bass.

Over the course of their debut album Showdown, as well as the subsequent EP and singles, they have more or less stayed true to their 80s metal roots, but have also implemented a variety of different inspirations and flirted with several genres alongside, even funk and 80s synth pop. Even within their own album, it is pretty difficult to find any major sound, going as far as to have a saxophone solo in the title track. The band as a whole takes a lot of pride in their ability to be adventurous and include various types of music. That said, they never feel inconsistent, and the songs always flow smoothly and coherently from track to track, adding to the overall experience. In short, Thrillkiller is like a giant slice of the 1980s for the 21st century, all the while reinventing the bands that influenced them and helped to sculpt the final product.

Another item to note are their music videos. The videos look almost like a short 80s B-movie, with all the 80s cheese you could ever ask for from a band like this, along with a deep canon and rich storyline that is difficult not to get invested in. These videos often make references to classic horror movies, with a bad guy based off of Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford, and 80s sci-fi and action movies such as Back to the Future and The Terminator. There are even classic video games of the 8 and 16 bit eras, including one video where the band was fighting time cops with an NES Power Glove that was spray painted gold. Rob even went on record as saying there was a “surprising amount of influence” from the soundtracks of old video games in  their debut album, especially the arcade beat ‘em up Final Fight. The style of the videos is something akin to a Michael Jackson short movie, with a WWE-like canon and story.

As a band, Thrillkiller is able to satisfy an itch that many retro purists feel needed to be scratched. While many nostalgia fueled bands are able to successfully capture the 1980s in a musical sense, Thrillkiller is able to take it one step further by fully immersing themselves in the action packed world of the 80s, on both a musical and visual front. As Rob said earlier though, there are many fantastic bands from that decade that are now more easy to listen to than ever because of ease of access in the internet age. That is why Thrillkiller is always making a conscious effort to sound fresh and new, and to be an homage to the 80s, not just a carbon copy. The band has assured Alchemical Records that they will bring their A game to the Angel Rock Bar in Baltimore on June 21st. Considering the quality of their past material, it will no doubt be a show that fans won’t want to miss.

The special features the following incredible DC-area performers: Allthebestkids, Black Dog Prowl, Fellowcraft, Justin Shapiro Music, Kid Brother, Maryjo Mattea, and Pebble to Pearl!

An enormous thank you to Brian Nelson-Palmer for giving me the opportunity to produce such an amazing event.

The fantastic audio is courtesy of Mark Reiter and BIAS Studios.

We lucked out in having an awesome crew. Charles D. Smith did a fantastic job directing (as did Aislyn Rivera), and Jason Edwards, Aylin Gencturk, David Lampp, Herbert McNair, Michael Osborne, Kim Phillip, Kristin Richards, Craig Syphax, Kerby Valladares, and TL Wilson all did a wonderful job as operators.

And a HUGE thank you to Aislyn and TL for editing this with me. I would have been lost without you.

And an equally HUGE thank you to Patrick McCleary of AIM, who guided me through the entire process beginning to end. The work he does with AIM in supporting all of their producers in truly invaluable.

I’m really proud of this movie, but moreover I’m really proud of our scene. DC has one of the most diverse and talented scenes in the world, as well as one of the best venues in the country, and I’m so excited to help shine a light on it.

Enjoy!

PS – FYI all the songs in the movie have their own YouTube video as well, so feel free to watch the whole thing, then re-watch your favorites!
